Meditation

Pali Passages Quoted in Day Two Discourse
Tumhe hi kiccaṃ ātappaṃ,
akkhātāro tathāgatā.
Paṭipannā pamokkhanti
jhāyino māra-bandhana.
You have to do your own work;
Enlightened Ones will only show the way.
Those who practise meditation
will free themselves from the chains of death.
Sabba-pāpassa akaraṇaṃ,
kusalassa upasampadā,
sa-citta pariyodapanaṃ--
etaṃ Buddhāna-sāsanaṃ.

"Abstain from all unwholesome deeds,
perform wholesome ones,
purify your own mind"--
this is the teaching of the Buddhas.
